Murdered: Erica Ann Garcia
In 1997, Erica Garcia was 14 years old living in Houston, Texas. On June 6th, 1997, she was dropped off at a "teen club" called New Dimension by her aunt, who saw Garcia meet up with her boyfriend and friends outside before going into the club. That was the last time her aunt saw her alive.
The next day, June 7th, 1997, a security guard making his rounds at the abandoned Alief General Hospital found Garcia's body. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled with her own clothing. The Houston Police Department quickly took control of the investigation, but they could find no motive.
Police to this day believe that at least two people know something related to reason behind the murder of Erica Garcia. According to Sgt. Peters of the HPD, one of Garcia's friends said she was, "getting on the bus, and said 'do you want to ride home with me?' and [Garcia] said, 'No, i have someone picking me up.'" There is a possibility that the person who was supposed to pick Garcia up from the club may have something to do with her murder. While they've never been able to discover a motive, police do believe that multiple people might have been involved with the murder.
Garcia was a cheerleader at her middle school and was well liked. Her friends called her "Tweety", and she had that nickname tattooed. To this day, her mother has no clue as to who might have killed her, or why.
"She didn’t deserve this, she did not deserve to die like this," Margarita, Garcia's mother, said.
There is a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. If you, or anyone you know, have information to lead to the capture of the murderer, or murderers, of Erica Garcia, please contact Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).
