Murdered: Tiera Strand
In April of 2023, Tiera Strand disappeared from a pub on East 6th Street in Austin, Texas. Five days later, her body was discovered on the side of the road 75 miles away. Who killed Tiera Strand?
Tiera Strand, who was 25 years old in 2023, was described as ambitious and driven, working to graduate high school. Her mother stated that Strand's dream was to join the Navy, and that's where she was headed after graduation. Strand was last seen off 6th street in Austin, Texas.
The last sighting of Strand was at Mooseknuckle Pub on Sunday, April 16th, 2023 at around 2:30am. According to her friends that were with her, some other patrons jumped her while she was in the club, and ended up outside after getting kicked out. Strand's mother, Monica Herron, said the friends that Strand was with that night told her that "she [Strand] was angry with them, and they said she stormed off with no phone, no purse, no bank card, no money, keys to her car, everything just gone. They have it, and she just stormed off."
A missing persons report was filed a day after she was last seen. For 4 days, family and friends waited to hear from Tiera Strand.
On Friday April 21st, 2023, deputies in the Bell County Sheriff's office responded to a call. A passerby reported a deceased person in a ditch about 75 miles away from where Strand was last seen. After going to the location, the Sheriff's department positively identified the body as Tiera Strand.
"I feel devastated, heartbroken, Tiera meant so much to our family. She was just everything to us. To have her taken away is really painful," said her aunt, Jordaya Dorris. While the police ruled the case as a homicide, the results of Strand's autopsy came back with the cause of death as "undetermined".
Tiera Strand left behind 6-year-old daughter, who is now being raised by Monica Herron, Strand's mother. According to Herron, "Every day, she [Strand's daughter] kisses her hand and blows a kiss up to her mom to heaven. She misses her mom very much."
